What Do We Eat?
How Much It Costs? Is It Necessary To Register In Advance? What To Bring? How Can I Help Even If I Can’t Come? When Do We Start?
The journey begins at Eilat on the 25/2 in a weekend of gathering and preparation for the departure on the 28' Our hope is that the journey will be launched every year at the beginning of March Who Participates In The Journey? Everybody is welcome, without any differences. Backpackers from all over the world, veterans, families, youth, adults, groups and anyone who just wants to join... The Walking
- The difficulty level of the walk changes every day, most days are medium difficulty down. Pace is 20 k.m each day on average. There are days that allow even small children or groups with special needs to walk with us (all the information on journey program) - We will walk with small backpacks with water/camera only, leaving the big bags and camping equipment every day in sealed bags at the trailer before going out for the walk. The bags will be waiting for us at the next pre-build camp. - Before leaving each day we register ourselves and don't forget to sign ourselves out when we came back, too - so we know everybody is okay. - We are walking with a certified guide who leads the group, and a guide who is also a medic who closes/collects the groupstragglers. You can walk in a large group, small or alone but we want also to go as a united group and to not get lost or to walk in the dark. We are not in a hurry, but get there in time - We go for fun, but safely. - If, for some reason, you retire from the group in the middle of the day, please inform one of the guides. The Camp In most of the camps in the middle of the week there are no showers, but water for basic cleaning We take on ourselves maximum environmental responsibility by saving resources, cleaning trails and camps where we stay, taking out the garbage in a concentrated way, using disposable tools only and more. Camp do have: - Shared kitchen which prepares the food for everyone and a big tank of drinking/washing water We clean dishes in an effectively shared way by a few ready-made water pyles (Step One: Wash the dirt with soap and water, Step Two: Rinse the soap with water, Step Three: Wash with fresh water). Breakfast is served early and everyone in his spare time come to be served, then - we put the personal equipment next to the trailer and take food for the walk (it is important to bring your own undisposable plate, cup, knife/fork/spoon, bowl and lunch box). Dinner is served in a common circle by volunteer servers (food circle). - A "Welcome Tent" will be there for you to get all the information needed, ask questions, buy meal/daytickets/coupons and enjoy some of the electricity ... - Toilets are defined as the zone with a pole with blinking red light - next to this pole you will find shovels, soap and water bottles - each person digs a small pit, does his/her things and covers firmly behind him/her. It is not recommended to use toilet paper, if you do so- please burn it carefully and responsibly after you. Please do not leave the toilet paper on the ground but bury it AFTER burning Breakfast - tea, coffee, fruit salad, porridge
Provisions - pitas baked in the morning, tahini, chocolate, jam, shakshoka, hard-boiled egg, vegetables, fruit Back from the walking - hot welcome soup
Dinner – vegetarian ; vegetables , rice/pasta/couscous , salad We ask for 50 NIS per day to cover our daily expenses, which include:
- Food (big breakfast , lunch-food , fruit , water supply, dinner)
- Proffesional Guidance, Proff. First Aid Medic, Evacuation
- Logistics and transport of personal luggage in sealed bags to next camp
This is just a minimum payment to cover the expenses... if you wish to support the journey and give more money it will be very helpful!
and on the other hIt is possible to save some money with working in the journey as a helper. One day of work will be worth one day of participation in the journey. The work is suitable for everybody (wake up early , prepare breakfast/dinner , set up new camp)s and efforts will be made to enable it for everybody. We strongly recommend to coordinate this in advance
Does It Necessary To Register In Advance? No! you can join whenever you want and for how long that you want. What to bring?

A "modest" change of clothing for meeting with respected representatives of a variety of communities (i.e. Clothes that are not transparent and that cover your chest, stomach, shoulders down to the elbows and your knees Personal, re-usable lunch box for food to take with us. Flashlight (torch) and lighter Personal toiletries Musical Instruments, juggling equipment or anything else that you would like to add to the journey Optional but recommended: Sandals Mosquito repellant Hints, tips, and stuff you need to avoid:
Avoid placing stuff in plastic bags or bringing packages that will later end up as garbage on the trail. Smokers - bring you own personal ashtray that you can carry with you so you don't throw cigarette budsends on the trail. Bring a soapshampoo that is bio degradable. Bring a tooth past that is environmentally friendly or use baking soda. Don't bring any disposable cutlery (plastic cups, knifes, forks etc...) If using batteries - bring rechargeable batteries. How's The Weather?
On March (the first month of the journey) we'll be in the desert. It is unlikely to rain at all. The days will usually be worm and sunny (light but long clothes and a hat). The nights will be cool (long pants and a sweater or light jacket). Temperatures are around 16 to 24 Degrees centigrade which are 61 to 75 Degrees Fahrenheit. You can sleep in a light sleeping bag with or without a tent – according to what you're used to. In the following months it will get warmer and there will likely be no rain. Travel Light:
After collecting all of the stuff you want to bring you can divide them to three groups: the things I really need , stuff I don't really need but it will be nice to have, stuff I just want to bring. and then : try to take less from the stuff in the first group, try not taking things that the chances you will use them is low, try not to take this kind of things especially books and extra personal toiletries
