Israel Trail running

In recent years, a new trend can be seen among Israelis, and many of them register for marathon competitions and train for long months in long runs. Some take the hobby of running one step further and embark on a fascinating running journey on the Trans-Israel Trail, from north to south or vice versa. In fact, the new trend started following Carlos Goldberg who first ran the Israel Trail in running, and since then many others have embarked on the complex and challenging challenge, some do it continuously and try to break the record, others do it for fun and fitness, with many running in sections.

Israel Trail running

Run for the Land of Israel for me

The mission of the Israel Trail is considered to be one of the most difficult and complex challenges, the trail is more than 1,000 km across mountains, ravines, streams, deserts and forests. Low weight so as not to further complicate the body.
In fact, most people who run on the Trans-Israel Trail do so in sections, some performing one section at a time for 30-35 km, once a week or two weeks. However, many others try to face the complex and difficult challenge of finishing the run in a row, so Who go for a long run almost every day, but it is important to get help with transportation and burying water on the way.

Crossing Israel in just 15 days

It is worth noting that currently, the record for running on the Israel Trail is 15 days, the record belongs to Richard Bowls of Australia, who came to Israel at the initiative of the Society for the Protection of Nature and the Roots Company. Since then, many have tried to break the feat of the experienced Australian runner.
It is important to emphasize that the Israel Trail running requires careful planning and assistance from other people, and only those who are skilled in long runs on a terrain route can withstand the great effort. For example, it is important to be in constant contact with a close person who accompanies you throughout the run and arrives at rest points to provide you with water and food, change of clothes, and at the end point each day awaits you with a car to take you to a place to shower, rest and gather strength for the next day. Every few days the run should be stopped proactively to give the muscles and body a rest.
