Every year thousands of young people come to Israel as part of various projects such as Masa and Taglit or simply to volunteer at the kibbutz. Some are Zionist motives to see Israel for the first time, some take the opportunity to see a world. In any case, despite Israel being a small country, they have quite a few attractions at their disposal, such as a trip on the Israel Trail.
Volunteering at the kibbutz
The phenomenon of volunteers in the kibbutz began in the 1960s when young people, as well as non-Jews, came from all over the world to volunteer in kibbutzim in Israel. Many of them decided to stay in Israel, including non-Jewish volunteers who underwent a conversion process. The volunteering period is 3 months. The volunteer receives a modest out-of-pocket fee and accommodation.
Take a walk on the Israel Trail
In each kibbutz there are entertainment activities for volunteers. We offer volunteers from Israel, as well as from around the world, to go on a special journey with us on the Israel Trail. Anyone who has spent three consecutive months volunteering will be happy to see the country in this special way. As mentioned, Israel is a small country, but this is also its biggest advantage. In 3 months – you can cross it on foot on the path that is about 900 kilometers long and see all the possible types of landscape. So no matter if it’s a group of volunteers, people who came in the Masa Project or Discovery series we will be happy after each one.
The volunteer spirit of Walk About Love
We do not see ourselves as a group of people who went on an organized trip on the Israel Trail. These are like another big commune that travels together with friends from all over the world. A type of kibbutz that moves throughout the country. We all prepare our meals together. We also have an annual tradition: Seder night in the desert.
When can you join the journey?
We know that not everyone can go out for all the days of the trip so we recommend that you follow the schedule that appears on the website and check the stations that can be joined. If only the desert interests you, you are welcome to join this section only. If you like more green landscapes, you have the option to join only the northern part.
